Dead, again.
Islington died again last week. He literally couldn’t take the heat anymore. Whenever the fan came on, he would slow down to the point of being unusable. Reboots couldn’t resurrect him, at least not without a prolonged cooldown-period in between. I brought him into repairs last friday, hopefully he’ll be with me again soon.
This little episode really reinforced my believes that it’s not worth having anything repaired out of warranty on your own tab. If you remember, islington went into repairs about a month ago, a few days out of his initial one-year-warranty. Took only two weeks to break again. If i hadn’t snapped up apple care on a great offer i would be working on a new mac, which doesn’t sound too bad to me right now, sitting in front of a wintel-box. I’ll blame my general lack of activity around here on the lack of my machine, working without the proper tools in place is a real pain in the ass. Also, expect to see lots of typos around here until i get systemwide spellchecking back.
Funnily almost everyone i know is on a mac now that i’m not, which doesn’t necessarily ease things. No ill will on my end, just mostly harmless jealousy. One of my flatmates brought a lovely 17″ powerbook home lately, another friend just bought an ibook after having her vaio fried by a little spill accident. I’m slowly moving into a mac ghetto here, i can live with that.
On a more positive sidenote, world of warcraft runs much better on my 2 1/2 year old wintel-box than on my 1 year old ibook. This helped a lot in getting my troll rogue on destromath to level 21, so if you’re on that server be nice and say hello, perhaps we could make a run for wailing caverns or shadowfang sometime.
There’s really no better place for whining about all the crap affectioning you deeply which real people with real lives tend to not care about.
PS: How stupid! Of course you can’t be nice and say hello to my troll rogue if you don’t know his name, so here it is: Zuultar.
Dead, again.
