First Chapter of Palm webOS Development Book available online
O’Reilly will be publishing the official book for Palm webOS development and the first chapter is now available for free online. This first chapter also presents a good overview of various interaction principles, the core os and some included applications. I’m increasingly impressed with their application development model based on HTML, CSS and Javascript for the UI layer and system access using JSON calls. It most likely limits the capabilities of applications (games and other graphically complex applications may prove difficult if not impossible to develop in this environment), but on the other hand it allows web developers to easily transfer their skills and experience to this new environment. This could be really interesting as a prototyping platform for mobile touchscreen interactions.
