Interview with Wil Shipley of Delicious Monster
Drunkenbatman’s interview with Wil Shipley of delicios monster is ripe with great sound bites but my favorite part is where he talks about the implementation of barcode scanning functionality in delicious library:
Humans are incredibly good at trying new and random things when they get instant feedback. It’s the basis of all learning for us, and it’s an absolutely fundamental rule of UI design.
Don’t miss “the art of delicious library” at the end of the interview, a pdf showing the user interface in various stages of development. Though i’m not a huge fan of the final interface (ever heard of human interface guidelines?) it’s nonetheless interesting to see the ui evolve over time.
Thank you for posting a link to this really enlighting piece. Can anyone comment on Delicious Monster or similar programs? Love the screenshots, but haven’t tried the actual software yet.

I don’t use delicious library myself but i remember it being received with somewhat mixed feelings upon release. However, they won two apple design awards and Mike Matas, who worked on the user interface of delicious library, was hired by apple so apparently they did something right. I believe you can download a free trial version of delicious library at their site if you wanna check it out for yourself.

@Iggy: I don’t know Delicious, but I know a Windows software for organizing media products which is really great. The name is MediaMan and you can download it for free at http://www.imediaman.com.
