Notetaking needs

Wikitywidget is the short-time winner of apple’s dashboard contest (googlecache, the page has been mysteriously pulled from apple’s site). Makes me crave for 10.4 tiger and even more the dashboard sdk. This little widget could instantly replace voodoopad lite for me. It looks like it’ll be more than sufficient for quick&dirty notetaking, always lingering just one shortcut away on the dashboard.
The thing i like about desktop wikis for personal information management is that they make it incredibly easy to create hypertext documents. Voodoopad’s camel-case support makes creating and hotlinking a new page instantaneous which is very useful for hammering out new categories and subordinate pages. The downside is that it’s rather tedious to (re)structure a wiki due to it’s freeform nature.
On a related note, voodoopad never quite worked for extended drafting and longwinded writing for me. Having heard the praises of outliners i’m very tempted to give omnioutliner a whirl now that it has just been bumped to v3.
