Free Bitflows June 2004
Currently the free bitflows conference is going on in vienna. Due to a rather cramped schedule i won’t make it to half as many sessions as i’d like, but today i attended session #2: “The Future of File Sharing: Darknet Reloaded?”, with Ian Clarke, Janko Roettgers and Sjoera Nas as participants. Originally i stumbled across the conference through Bruce Sterlings “Beyond the Beyond” blog a few months ago.
The participants gave presentations about the current legal state of anonymity and file-sharing, the potential of introducing social networking trends into p2p file-sharing systems and freenet.
I’ve put my session notes online in clear text format - both the original notes as taken during the session and a slightly post-edited version which hopefully is a little more comprehensible.
Hopefully i’ll find the time to write a little bit more as soon as i sober up…
