G5 the wrong way to go?

Would apple do better if they focused on laptop-optimized cpus like intels pentium m or transmeta cpus? They expect to sell more laptops than desktops soon with laptops already accounting for 40 % of apples overall computer sales. Imho a quiet, cool, low power cpu would also fit better in most of their desktops, namely imac and emac.
Furthermore, apple users are already comfortable with not caring too much about a cpus clockspeed, a huge advantage considering intels marketing stunts in promoting the centrino platform with its lower mhz specs when compared to the pentium 4.
Yet the g5 appears to be a classical desktop powerhouse as it was first (and yet exclusively) introduced in their powerpc line and needs some serious cooling. Can’t see how to apply those "airflow principles" to a laptop.
Perhaps apple should team up with transmeta.
